Cushion compacts are trending lately. I personally love a cushion foundation, gingerly dipping my fingers into the squishy, bouncy sponge and applying it to my face with my fingers. There’s something primal and connective about it. I can blend best with my fingers, rather than with a brush. Cushion blushes are similar, but you have to be careful how much you apply and how you buff, since it’s a color product, not one that is meant to blend with your own skin tone and cover blemishes.

The Shu Uemura x Super Mario Brothers Cushion Blush in Brave Amber is exactly what you need to get a much-desired facial flush this fall and beyond. It’s a stunning mauve shade that will add a dewy glow to the high points of your cheeks. If you’ve never used a cushion blush before, well, don’t delay any further. This is the introduction you need to this makeup innovation. Plus, the packaging, featuring the pixilated and beloved characters from the video game, is just too cute.

My tip for cushion blush is to dip your pointer and middle fingers lightly into the cushion bed and then tap, tap, tap on your cheeks. Finish by buffing outward towards your hairline and ears.
