Beauty

By Kerry Malouf

This month’s Beauty Insider with LA-based, celeb makeup artist Kerry Malouf focuses on body painting and light, FRESH looks! “The inspiration for Wild Fox’s new Jean Collection was PEACE & LOVE & BODY PAINTING,” Malouf says. The company’s motto? She is the Native Heart. She is all neon light. She is a love child. She is a Wild Fox.

For this particular shoot, the vibe was all about being a free spirit and letting go of your inhibitions. Malouf said, “Makeup is for us to enhance our natural beauty and sometimes that means wearing barely any makeup and simply wearing blush, lip tint and mascara. That’s all I used on our model Jessica Mau. She is naturally so beautiful and needed very little on her face.”

Malouf was recently introduced to Fresh Feel Good Beauty and she admits that she was so inspired by their full line of life style products, spanning the spectrum of fragrance, skin care, body care, makeup, hair care and home and the story behind the line. She said, “The founders trust their instincts and respond to their own genuine needs. Because of that, they consistently keep Fresh ahead of the curve.” Fresh creates modern alchemy by fusing innovative natural ingredients with time-honored beauty rituals for a sensorial experience that is as indulgent as it is effective. In lay man’s terms? They make luxurious products that enhance your beauty in the most subtle ways.

To enhance Jessica’s natural beauty, Malouf used High Noon Fresh Face Glow, which Malouf espouses as “a sheer easy-to-blend illuminating liquid bronzer that plumps the skin, camouflages small imperfections and imparts a natural-looking radiance.” She then swept Fresh Face Blush Powder in Blossom over her cheeks; it’s a berry mauve that is a sheer pressed powder that instantly gives cheeks a healthy glow. To give the model’s eyelashes a feathery look, Malouf used Firebird mascara, which she deems “amazing!” Her favorite product was the Sugar Plum Tinted Lip Treatment with SPF 15, which “nourishes, repairs, and protects your lips while leaving a sheer plum tint. LOVE!!!!,” according to Malouf. “With colorful body makeup and Wild Fox’s Jeans, we created Colorful Magic together.”

Malouf’s mantra for the upcoming Fall season? It’s simple and will translate to real life. She says, “I invite you to take it all off and start Fresh this fall….to step outside of your comfort zone as we transition from Summer to Fall…to change your routine….go light when you want to go dark…to play…to paint!” BN suggested this last month, so it’s like the entire staff shares a brain. And we have our fingers on the pulse of what’s hot, too, if we don’t say so ourselves.

SECRET OF THE MONTH
Malouf’s secret this month? The Eat Pray Love collection. This collection was Inspired by the book and movie, which stars Julia Roberts. Eat Eau de Parfum is a sweet effervescent scent inspired by Elizabeth Gilbert’s travels through Italy as told in her memoir Eat, Pray, Love. Pray Eau de Parfum is a woodsy fragrance with undertones of exotic spices inspired by Elizabeth Gilbert’s travels.
