Ardency Inn is known for its inky, rock ‘n’ roll eyeliners and downtown NYC vibe. The brand’s thick, Sharpie-like Punker is always in my makeup bag. Now, the brand that has captured my heart is offering the Modster Easy Ride Supercharged Liquid Liner, which is a thin-tipped wand. It’s like a cat eye/winger liner/mod eye tool for dummies. It’s virtually idiot proof. So if you want ’60s-inspo doe eyes or if you want see what it feels like to be Orange Is the New Black’s Alex Vause for a day, you can practice with this puppy. I adore it.
Fall is coming and with it, the desire to rock a super opaque, matte lip. Velvet 59 by Paris Manning offers these amazing Matte to the Max liquid lipsticks, which are truly velvet-like and extremely matte in texture. The formula is not drying, thanks to the formula; it includes Sacha Inchi oil, secured from the Amazon forest and which locks in hydration.
It’s a seriously rich lip look, so keep the rest of your makeup light. Pink Cadillac is super mod, while Gigi is an Old Hollywood red. I liked the beige-y nude Vanilla Macaroon the best. Since the creamy liquid lipstick is so opaque and thick, make sure your lips are flake-free, smooth, lined with a colorless liner, and then you can proceed to paint your pout.
It can be a chalky look, so I recommend applying and then blotting the excess with a tissue. That way you dial it down to a stained effect.
MAC is my favorite makeup brand, so of course I am loving the PatentPolish Lip Pencil, which is a chubby lip crayon that does three critical things. That vanilla scent gets me every time but it’s the divine formula, which is soft like a balm, offers a hint of shine like a gloss, and lasts like a long-wearing lipstick. Clever is a rosy pink that I will be wearing through October. Hell, I will wear this through December.
The brand’s Haute + Naughty Mascara got me in the door based on NAME alone! Haute? And naughty? Two of my specialities. The dual brush lets you pick your lash poison: volume or definition or… both! I use the both brushes for my lower lash line, so those tiny babies are hard to reach.
40 is the new 30! Manic Panic is celebrating it’s 40th anniv. While I always think of the deep, dark, and gothy hair dyes I used while in college, the brand’s Lethal Lipstick is a bold as the hair hues. A lipstick case with studs and skulls and crossbones? That was made for me. Many of the colors are way darker than anything I’d ever wear, but I let my dark-skinned pal slick her lips with the wine stained Glamourose while I played with the spacey Stiletto, which is a sparkly silver. The verdict? Oh, not for the shy or faint of lip. Your lips come to life with these lippies; no lethal injection here.
