MAC is famous for its collaborations. 2008 saw the “all ages, all races, all sexes” company partner up with Dame Edna, Heatherette, and Ungaro for limited edition collections. Now, MAC is trumping itself with the mother of all partnerships: the fashion-forward Hello Kitty collection. Be the glamour puss of your block with the expansive, black and pink graphic collection, sporting Hello Kitty’s wink-wink, nudge-nudge cute meets mischievous likeness. The collection, which runs the gamut of accessories, from a gothy, stuffed Hello Kitty doll to a full range of products, should sell out in nanoseconds since Hello Kitty’s rabid fanbase ranges in age from 7 to 34. We recommend running, not walking, to MAC counters and locations on the quick. Key items include the Lucky Tom eye shadow palette, the peachy Beauty Powder in Tahitian Sand (perfect for warming up ghastly and ghostly winter pale skin) and Nice to Be Nice Lip Gloss, which is neon orange in the tube yet sparkly sheer on your pucker. We also love Fashion Mews lipstick, which is a retro, 60s-inspired mauve and and the oh-so-mod Girl Groove white glitter eyeliner. Be sure to nab any of the accessories, namely the adorably chic make up bag/train case, with its hot pink lining, or the brush collection, with its HK-shaped holder. Meow! Available at MAC counters.
Applying makeup is a skill. Removing it shouldn’t require a ton of effort. With Simple Sensitive Skin Specialists Cleansing Facial Wipes, taking it all off (and no, we don’t mean that way) is a cinch! These ultra-gentle, super-affordable wipes were previously only available in the UK but have made it across the pond. The sheets are perfume and dye-free, contain no alcohol or oil and will magically remove the most resistant lip stain and waterproof mascara. Available at Duane Reade locations.

Up ‘n coming line Bluffa Jo Cosmetics -the name is a Liberian/West African term for a fashionable, classy, stylish and confident woman – is one of our fave new, under the radar finds. The Eye Shader pots, especially the neutrals like the greenish-gold Laughter, the soft gray Frenchie or the blinged out pink Martini, blend like a dream and offer divine color payoff, thanks to the microbead shimmer and fine milled finish. The line, started by suburban Washington, DC spa owner Maisie Dunbar, who wanted to create a line of color products that were pretty, long-lasting and not detrimental to the skin, includes blushes and lipsticks and glosses, ensuring that you’ll look like Bluffa Jo, all day, every day.
