Late makeup artist Kevyn Aucoin was inspired by his friendships with musical icons like Tori Amos and Tina Turner as much as he was by divas like Cher and Liza Minelli. Aucoin’s eponymous company has launched the Rouge Hommage lipstick collection, featuring eight lightweight yet luxurious, shimmery and sheer shades that were designed to work with all skin tones, which summon both Aucoin’s and your connection to musical muses. The lipsticks are contained in Aucoin’s signature, gorgeous red casing. Goldeneye, inspired by Turner, is a sheer gold that pairs perfectly with summer kissed skin, while Heartbreaker is a rosy gold inspired by Dolly Parton. Seriously, women of all tones can wear all the shades in this collection of whisper-soft lipsticks.
With the warm weather finally here, a change of makeup to a more natural look is de rigueur for summer chic. From Chanel comes Les Naturels de Chanel, a soft, sophisticated palette of hues that exemplify the words of Coco herself when she said “less is more”. The soft colors for eyes, lips and cheeks are easy for most complexions to wear and come in sheer to soft shimmer finishes.

NARS eliminates the guess work implicit in pairing multiple eye shadow shades for a high-dimensional look with its duos. Our new “to die for” double is Egea, a gold and taupe mix that’s ripe for summer when you want a little shimmer and not a lot of overdone color for those carefree beach days and sultry, simmering nights where less is best.

The police’s motto may be to protect and to serve, but Lavanila Healthy Lip Shine’s credo is to protect and to shine. Lips will glisten with this ultra-light and incredibly creamy gloss, which yields that faintest hint of color and a whole lotta vitamins – 30 of them to be exact. There’s no harsh chemicals here, either. Just a wash of barely-there color, especially with the pale pink Vanilla Lavender.

If the waxy texture of lip balm turns you off, then it’s time for a new Rx for your pucker. Give your lips over to the tingly, minty Dr. Kiss Satin Finish Balm, which moisturizes lips and offers barely-there of color without that heavy, greasy residue of other balms. The pill-shaped packaging is unusual yet cute.

Still not sold on bronzer yet staying out of the sun to conserve your skin’s youthful aplomb? Well, we suggest you continue to protect your epidermis, but give bronzer a chance with Paul & Joe Bronzer in 002, a shimmery apricot shade. You’ll be the most golden goddess in the room, thanks to the gold dust flecks. Dust a little on your décolletage for maximum impact.

The Lipstamp will aid daring, edgy artisans in altering the appearance of lips without resorting to expensive fillers, cosmetic surgery or overdrawn lipliner. There’s no trout pout with this experimental, practice-makes-perfect, fun little product, which comes with an assortment of sponges in a variety of shapes like Small, Pouty, High Fashion and Peaks Pointy. You simply apply your preferred shade to the pads, attach the pad to the stamp, press against your lips and blot and perfect the edges and viola! Transformed lips. Recommended for actresses, models, makeup artists and daring ladies, not the casual makeup wearer, though.
