Matte is the blazing hot trend for manicures and nails this Fall. While it may seem like an unlikely pairing, premium denim giant Rock & Republic and luxury nail retailer Essie have partnered up and collaborated for three limited edition items that shun shine in favor of a rich, matte texture. Essie’s Clearly Matte, which, when applied over any shiny nail laquer, transforms it into a buffed, no-luster, velvety matte look. Adding new dimension and texture allows you to customize your fave, normally shiny shade for a new season. No need to change colors or abandon your fave shade; just go for a twist by eliminating the shine! On the R&R side, the design house has created All About Matte Jeans in Spill Black, with spilled lacquer detailing, which pairs stunningly with the Top Matte Tee. The polish/capsule collection was a result of the friendship between R&R President Andrea Bernholtz and Essie founder and President Essie Weingarten.

For a limited time, Rock & Republic will gift the Clearly Matte finishing polish with the purchase of any item in the capsule collection.

Applying makeup is the easy part. Taking it all off, without damaging your delicate eyelashes, is the true conundrum. With the onset of DermaQuest’s lash-enhancing Eye Makeup Remover, removing shadows, liner and mascara is actually beneficial with one swipe of a cotton pad. The product, which features biotin and copper for strengthening properties and hydrolyzed wheat protein which conditions and strengthens lashes, is genius since it avoids stripping the ultra-fine lid skin of essential moisture or tugging at the lashline, causing loss of lash.

We don’t know any women who aren’t seeking full, dramatic lashes that make every man do a double take and fellow ladies turn a certain shade of green – that’d be with envy! (Speaking of jade green, it’s the “right now” shade for nails!) Nevertheless, Chantecaille’s Faux Cils Mascara combine a super volumizing formula with red seaweed extract and rose damascene, and a full bristle amplifying brush. The end result, without all that tech talk? Lashes that are thicker and fuller than false ones.

Available at, Neiman Marcus and Space NK locations.

Gerda Spillmann, the Los Angeles based line, has added two new bright ‘n bold colors to their Bio-Blends Eyeliner Pencils collection. Joining the neutral, goes-with-anything and well, safe shades dubbed Black Magic, Dark Chocolate, Perfect Grey and Rich Navy are Teal and Regal Plum. Don’t let these vivacious, retractable pencil shades be reserved solely for daring, fashion-forward makeup mavens. Step out, be daring and perk up your eyes with these eco-friendly, creamy, easily appliable and long-lasting shades make your day! Take the dull out of winter by using the self-contained smudger to create a soft, smoky, blended look.

Brown queen Anastasia Soare has beefed up her Anastasia Beverly Hills line with two new, to-die-for products that enhance – what else?- the eyes.

Lash Lifting Mascara opens the eyes geometrically. No, really. Soare says the silky, non-clumping, double-effect mascara, which requires but one coat to add incredible thickness and uplifting curl, will help complete your face’s “perfect triangle.” Her brow shaping is said to be like giving your face an instant facelift, due to her Golden Ratio arch proportions, which are enhanced with the full, lengthy, sexy lashes provided by this mascara. You don’t need to break out that old protractor from high school geometry class, though. Just pile on your lashes, bat ’em and smile.

Soare’s Highlight Brow Kit is a trio of multi-purpose products that offers coverage for both brows and lid. The versatile product can be used wet or dry, on the brows or directly on the lids, for an all over, shimmery highlight or for a richer, more dramatic look. The brow powder doubles as an eyeliner and the highlighter can be blended like an eye shadow. What else could a girl ask for?
