FORGET all this pink is the new black bull-you-know-what. Black is the new black, even in the summer, thanks to Urban Decay. Personally, I don’t need or want lighter colors because the weather is warmer. Being seen without black liner is like being naked for me.

The other night, I went to see a hard rock band of which I am the publicist out in Long Island. Long drive, long day, hot club. When I got in the car to trek home after midnight, I looked in the rear view and O to the M to the G. My normally stays put liner had was smeared, diluted and more. A few days later, I went to see the band in another city, this time armed with Urban Decay All Nighter Eyeliner in the brand’s inky Perversion shade. I can’t have makeup migration like that on another long, late night when I am technically working. This intense liner in a twisty pen didn’t move till I said so. Or at least until the makeup wipe I used before crawling into bed said so!

Oh, but that’s not all!

Urban Decay Super-Saturated Ultra Intense Waterproof Cream Eyeliner is triple black pigment miracle in a pot! You can do a thick or thin upper lash line cat eye flick or you can apply and smudge for a smokier halo effect. Apply with the angled brush. My tip? Use the back end of the tip for a more precise line.

Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Glide-On Eye Pencil is another sooty gem. It’s as black as your ex-BF’s soul but the texture is plush and velvet-like. It’s a bit more powdery than the regular Glide-Ons, making it easier to buff and soften. Smoke ‘em if you got ‘em, I always say.

Urban Decay Ink for Eyes lets you have total control thanks to the super slim tip. The felt tip construction allows you to draw a flawless line, flick it and move on!

All these babies are available at Sephora and Beauty.com.

Oh, and pst! I’ve been using Ponds Wet Cleansing Towelettes with Soft White Kaolin Clay. They take off product, drawing it out, and leave you luminous and moisturized.

And now to prove that I can get down with florals, colors and shades other than my beloved black, I am storing my new UD haul in Beauty.com’s Peony Floral Bag designed by Lela Rose. Keep the bag, using as a makeup tote or a summery clutch, play with the 18 (!!!) luxe samples and maybe find some new products you love!

The bag stands upright on four brass pegs while a brass zipper across the top adds an additional touch of elegance. “I designed this bag with my favorite pink peony print from spring 2014 in mind,” Rose explained. “The simple shape allows the print to be the stand out detail, which is how I used it down the runway. It’s perfect to store your bright and fun makeup for the season.”

Eye shadow primer is a must for me. I have oily skin, so any mattifying product that helps liquid liner adhere to my eyes or intensifies shadow is aces for me. I normally use Urban Decay’s Primer Potion (a squeeze tube) and MAC’s Paint Pot in Painterly (like the name says — a pot) and I apply with finger or concealer brush. Then Cate McNabb’s Eye Primer tube version with a doe-footed wand landed on my desk. Yep, it’s uh-mazing. It’s easy to apply precisely and I can glide my black liquid liner right over it. Stays. All. Day.

Even though the weather has gotten somewhat warmer, with an unseasonably cool April, I noticed my lips were dry and slightly chapped. Full disclosure: It was from kissing my dog a LOT the last week of April because he was staying at my dad’s while I had work done on my condo. And it dried out my lips. The ONLY thing that soothed them? A fresh, menthol-y tube of cherry flavored Carmex. It’s a cheapie and it works. Why question it?

Hey, bridezillas! I’ve got a tip for you. The Garment Saver Disposable Makeup + Clothing Guard is a softy, gauzy, fairly non-descript swath of fabric that protects hair and makeup when getting dressed and undressed. So if you have your makeup done while wearing a hoodie from Victoria’s Secret PINK brand before changing into your gown, you can be worry-free if you nab one of these. Place it over your hair and makeup when removing clothes and the clothes are protected and your makeup remains smudge free. The woven fabric is light and breathable, so you won’t feel suffocated when using it, either. They come in packs of 50 and three-piece packs, too.
