In the summer, it seems we step out of our “make-up comfort zone” and step into something a little bit more daring. Regardless of the trends or colors that grace the retailers, we are just more carefree! Wearing heavier and darker eyeliner becomes a thing of seasons past when summer rolls around, seemingly leaving blushes to be the answer!

Shana King, Makeup Artist & Beauty Director of Anisa International, says that we should choose products that add color and dimension to the overall look without having to apply multiple products.

Blushes for summer can do so many things including enhancing a tan, highlighting a face, and introducing more color into your daily look. Not only this, but blush really showcases that healthy glow that you may naturally posses. King says that blush is a product that adds a healthy natural glow to the skin as well as highlights the cheekbones as well as defines them. More beauty insight and information from Shana King, Makeup Artist & Beauty Director of Anisa International can be found here.

Deep Throat Blush from Nars Cosmetics is a beautiful pinky peach powder blush with a wearable shimmer. Without being “too much,” the blush serves as a great addition to the face. Rather than making it look like it enhances sunburn, the playful pink finish highlights the cheekbones and instantly adds a glow to the face. The gold reflex and undertones also enhance a tan making this blush perfect to wear in the summer.

Face Color G Blush by Paul & Joe in Nubile is another approach to a fabulous pop of color. With a softer finish, the blush is playful and summery. There is a very fine shimmer that it’s almost a simple sheen. With the smallest hint of peach in an ultimately pink blush, the color is a beautiful compliment to multiple skin tones at the same time, not just a lighter one. All of these fabulous things, not to mention the adorable packaging! Paul & Joe is available at Bergdorf Goodman, and here.

Vincent Longo Water Canvas Blush in Terra Dew is more of a daring option. A more tropical and exotic shade, Terra Dew offers a revitalizing formula that is a natural looking color to the cheeks. With more of a darker, richer color, skin tones with deeper pigments will enjoy dusting their cheeks with this blush. This also means the blush will compliment a tan quite well.

If you aren’t into a heavier color, Colorescience’s Blush in Apple of My Eye, is a face enhancement blush powder that offers sheer color for a perfect wash among the cheeks. The color will be suitable for fair skin types making it look natural and healthy. The enhancement of the tan on your face is evident with this blush because the color is not overwhelming and works together with your natural tone. In a simple, easy to use twist up packaging the mineral powder blush will make you shimmer in summer. Colorescience is available at here.

King also mentioned that her rule of thumb is that with bright colors, the shade should accentuate the skin tone. These blushes can accentuate their respective skin tones and make your summer skin looking sun-kissed and full of color without the heavy eyeliner and mascara. Say hello to pops of color and say hello to summer!
