I’m a self-professed Benefit fan, mainly because they’ve channeled the fashion, but not the values, of the 1930s. Their retro packaging makes feeling girly stylish instead of immature, but their asset as a cosmetic company is the ability to create makeup that natural women will wear. Many companies create products that enable women to emulate stars’ looks, but Benefit creates products that enhance a woman’s natural beauty. Adding to their copious line of concealers, blushes, and liners, they launched Big Magic, a natural rose hued lip-gloss that is mild enough to compliment any skin tone from ebony to ivory. Not only is this a color you can wear year-round, 100% of the net proceeds go to Big Brothers Big Sisters. This is no short-term promotion either; Benefit is already developing next year’s promotional charity product.

Big Magic is $14, available at www.benefitcosmetics.com and Sephora.
