You should know that I am not the type of person who ever gets her nails done. Really. I’m just too cheap to do it and so instead I grow these long nails that I’m too lazy to properly maintain. Charming, I know. So, in case you haven’t heard at least 47 times…I just got married. In the preparation process, I realized that my talons needed taming. The Elizabeth Arden Red Door Salon and Spa seemed like the perfect option to help me out of my quandary.

I started off with the Heeling Pedi-Cure that they’ve just started offering. My new friend Carman had her work cut out for her but set to work immediately putting me at ease. Every tool she used was brand new. She soaked my feet and went to work exfoliating the heck out of them. As I said before, I don’t have a lot of experience with this genre of beauty, but generally the exfoliating hurts and I’m worried they’re going to hit nerve endings with the amount of vigor they have for my heels. Not so with Carman. She got the job done but was noticeably more gentle. Next she shaped each toenail and then applied a clay based mask to my feet and legs that pulled out impurities and tingled a little. Then came my favorite part – the most lovely massage I do believe my legs have had since I was a little girl and my grandmother would rub my feet and legs (I had a great grandmother!). Carman then painted on the melon shade that we had picked and we were inished.

On the flip flops went and we walked over to the Manicure Room. I had decided on a Citra Spa Manicure and everything felt amazing! There were three steps of vitamin c infused products with the various exfoliants and moisturizers. And once again, the amazing massage. I was getting my nails done on a Monday and my wedding was that Saturday. All of the women in my family told me my manicure wouldn’t last and I would have to get a new one once I was in Houston (where we got married). I asked Carman about it and she shook her head as she painted on the sheer milky pink color I had chosen, “It will last. Do not worry.” And the crazy part is that it did! I walked out with the smoothest, most even paint job that lasted over a week.

In these last throes of summer, while you can still run around town in sandals, head over to the Red Door Spa and ask for Carman – you’ll be so glad that you did!
