Piaffe Cosmetics founder Marie Regan knows a thing or two about what the modern city girl-on-the-go needs. Having enjoyed a stint as an exec at Donna Karan, Regan lived life in the fast lane, where she craved simple but effective make up routines and was often disappointed.
Rather than rely on others to supply her with products she desired, the self-starting Regan developed Piaffe, a luxe line of vitamin and mineral based products, whose logos include a horse. You might be wondering what the hell horses have to do with high end cosmetics, but more on that mane attraction later. (It’ll all make sense in the end, we promise!)
The jewels in the Piaffe crown include Shimmer Essence, a champagne colored powder that gives lustrous glow to spring skin awaking from winter hibernation under mounds of sweaters and scarves. This multi-tasker can be used on eyes, cheeks, décolletage, or just about any place you wanna bare skin and show a little glow. Silk Shimmer Eye Shadows – Pink Bloom and Mahogany are works-for-every-eye-color shades- are packaged in nail polish-like bottles, and the rich, highly pigmented, ultra shimmery formula will last for hours.
So about those horses. Regan creatively incorporated her passionate equestrian background -she’s an avid horse lover and owner– into the line in two dynamic ways. Not only are all Piaffe products, available at Henri Bendel, emblazoned with the adorable mini horse logo, but their cornerstone ingredient is horse chestnut flower extract. Quit raising your eyebrows. We know, we’ve never heard of it, either. Until now. Regan’s Irish mother told her tales of pink and white blossoms on horse chestnut trees back home. Scientifically speaking, the extract helps stimulate micro-circulation in the skin. Why should you care? Because micro-circ boosts that natural flush that most women spend hours trying to achieve with blush and other assorted products. The horse chestnut also assists in keeping skin supple while smoothing out fine lines. Once you use the Shimmer Essence or the easy-to-apply Luxe Cream Liners, you’ll be wishing you knew about horse chestnut eons ago.
