Vincent Longo has been shaping women’s smiles for quite a while with his wearable shades of lip color. Who knew he also was helping to support doctors who literally reshape children and young adult’s grins? Operation Smile was founded by Dr. William P. Magee, a plastic surgeon, and his wife, Kathleen, a nurse and clinical social worker. On a volunteer medical trip to the Philippines in 1982 they worked to repair children’s cleft lips and cleft palates but had to turn some away because there were too many children and not enough doctors. Thus Operation Smile was born. 23 years later, they’ve helped to provide free reconstructive surgery to tens of thousands of youths in the United States as well as 25 developing countries, helping their inner beauty to come out. Patients who require intensive reconstructive surgery for severe deformities are brought to the United States for surgery as World Care patients. Operation Smile also has Student Programs that teach hundreds of youth the values of caring, service, leadership and education.
Operation Smile has an annual couture fashion show in New York City each year and this past year Vincent Longo provided artists and makeup for the models. Their time was donated as well as numerous Longo items for the gift bags recipients walked away with.
