Beauty

Who doesn’t love Target? The store that gives you an all-access pass to some very hip designers. From mass-market versions of designs by Erin Fetherston, handbags by Botkier, jewelry by Subversive and Richard Harris, the corporation should be commended for its renowned “high-low” collaborations.

Now, with its Prestige Beauty initiative, the company is turning its beauty aisle into a luxury destination as well thanks to the launch of not one, not two, but three gorgeous and expansive collections by international tastemakers. We know, you don’t usually equate Target with Sephora, but when stocking up on towels, housewears and basic t-shirts, browse the self-test units now installed in stores! We promise, you’ll be hooked! All products are available at your local Target or www.target.com.

Jemma Kidd (England), Petra Strand/Pixi (Sweden/London) and Napoleon Perdis (Australia) have partnered with the big red bulls eye for individual collections. Each ranges from $12 to $40 dollars in price. That may seem steep for the average Target shopper but beauty mavens know that there are plenty of worthwhile gems located in discount chains. With the down economy we’re all suffering through, these collections are affordable without sacrificing quality.

JK Jemma Kidd
About: Jemma Kidd has her own make-up academy in London. She was a model. She’s also a design award-winner with a knack for fashion-forward, street-chic make up.

Philosophy: Easy to apply, straightforward products that don’t need guidelines. Brings backstage to the street.

Number of Products in the line: 84, spanning the gamut from shadows, glosses, blushes, a gorgeous gunmetal pouch and much more!

Must-Have Product: It’s a toss-up. We love the JK Fashion Palette, a versatile compact that aids in the creation of a smoldering, plum ‘n brown eye look. Seven essential products are housed in this convenient book. Toss it in your suitcase or weekender and you’ll be good to go. The collection of I-Conic Eyes Pencil Liners come in a range of bold, experimental and classic colors and built-in sharpeners.

Pixi by Petra by Petra Strand
About: Swedish-born make up artist Petra Strand has been rocking the cosmetics industry for twenty years, focusing on “awakening” and “skin-loving” products. Strand imbues Pixi by Petra by Petra Strand with the same “Make Up to Wake Up” aesthetic that defines her high-end line.

Philosophy: Multi-tasking, mineral make up that has the same effect as a good night’s sleep. Each package features a tip offered by Strand herself, as though she’s your own personal guru!

Number of Products in the line: 91, many of which are multi-functional, portable, compatible kits.

Must-Have Product: Pixi’s Smoky Eye Wand is fool proof, with a thick tip and loose shadow burrowed in the cap. Her Lid & Line pencils boast a crayon liner, pigment and a smudge tip and one slick of the Lip Booster Gloss in Faerie (suitable for any skin tone) provides the sexiest “come hither” pucker.

NP Set by Napoleon Perdis
About: Napoleon Perdis has been dubbed “Thunder from Down Under,” due to his status as the primo make up artist from the region. He is known for promoting female empowerment, as well.

Philosophy: Rich colors and quick-fix products designed in a streamlined fashion for the glamazon on the go.

Number of Products in the Line: 83, full of glamour, whimsy and drama.

Must Have Product: NP Set Pasarella Powder Foundation will give you a smooth, clean and velvety complexion. All of these products are hyper pigmented and ultimately luxurious enough to share counter space with your favorite high end line at your local department store.
