Rock chicks like loud guitars, band logo tees, and sassy make up. Rock chicks rock out in the crowd, and in order to make sure you stand out in that crowd, we’re offering tips to achieve the rock chick look with a handful of products that’ll ensure your make up lasts while you’re rocking out in a packed-to-the-rafters club. Check out our very own Rock Chick Makeover (from Geek to Freak!)

Rock venues are dark, and classic rock chick eyes are usually smoked out. Two darks don’t make a light, so use glimmer and shimmer to prevent eyes from blending in with the walls. Create an intense smoky eye by blending light and dark. Layer for dramatic effect, and to keep make up from migrating when you’re in a sweaty, humid club full of bodies. Apply Pout’s creamy Eyeslick in Indrani (grayish black) as a base to set your powder shadow. Top with Pout Eye Shadow Duo in Miss December, a combo of powdery white (to highlight the browbone) and sparkle-flecked black (to smokify lids).

Experiment with colors other than black, too. MAC offers a vast selection of shadows. For a smoky blue, combine Contrast and Blu Noir. It’s easy being green, if you mix Femme Noir and Greensmoke. If you’re feeling purple, layer Nocturnelle and Shadowy Lady. Don’t be shy, either. Wing it out –but don’t go past eyebrows or up to the brown bone– to create cutting edge cat eyes.

Cargo SmokyEye Eyeliner Duo

Cargo’s SmokyEyes Eyeliner Duo in Katmandu (black) and Skye (blue) are cream and powder sets ideal for creating rock chick eyes on the go. This combo stays put no matter how much dancing, singing, and crowd-surfing you engage in. You can tuck the sleek package in the pocket of your skinny jeans in case you need to sneak off for a touch up.

Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner Trio

To make eyes pop, use contrasting glittery products. Urban Decay’s Heavy Metal Eye Liner Trio imparts sparkle and dazzle. This liquid eyeliner set is a “must have” because they work with most dark colors. They can be used alone for high-wattage eye looks.

Pout Metallic Eyes Crayon

Pout’s chubby Metallic Eyes Crayon in Silver Shimmer or Hard Candy’s Glitter Eye Pencils in Trailer Trash and Midnight brighten up the whites of eyes when applied to bottom eyelids. These sparkly liners aid in attracting the attention of every rocker boy (including the ones on stage) in the room.

Hard Candy Lash Freak Lashes

False eyelashes are also crucial. Hard Candy Lash Freak False Lashes are studded with gems, so if you don’t have a deft hand with tricky liquid glitter eye liner – and there should be a support group for those of us who have a less than steady hand with the stuff- these lashes provide a flash of brightness.

MAC Plush Glass

You needn’t worry about bronzer or blush, since eyes are the key to this look. For lips, just gloss and go. MAC’s Plushglass plumps lips with a patent leather shine. Fulfilled and Full For You are pretty, sheer pinks that’ll keep your megawatt mouth kissable. Also, Pout’s Lip Polish in Buxom Betty (plum) and Naughty Nora (rose) stain the lips with more color and shine.

For those about to rock, we at Beauty News salute you.
