Beauty

By Lily Ryden

One of my favorite things about Thanksgiving is the food. There are tons of delicious delicacies everywhere you turn – and everything tastes great. From the Turkey (or Tofurkey) to the stuffing, cranberry sauce, candied yams, etc etc, nom nom, every single food item tastes amazing alongside every other food item. So this got me thinking: what are some make up items that pair incredibly well with each other? Well, have a gander below to see my top five faves (in no particular order).

Make Up For Ever: Artist Intense Lipstick and Eyeshadow
I love Make Up For Ever’s products. Simply put they’re amazing. The lipsticks stick and the eye shadows stay put. Not mention all their products work well together. While it might be easy to assume that all like-branded items would naturally work in each other’s favor, that’s definitely not always the case. But, in my opinion, what really overall makes the brand’s lipsticks and eye shadows gel so well are the assortment of colors. For every lipstick shade there’s a corresponding eyeshadow hue (or two) to compliment it perfectly. My suggestion for a lovely yet bold Fall look is the lipstick in pearly gold (#17) and eye shadows in pumpkin (#50) and lemon shimmer (#101). I know it sounds like a crazy combo, but trust me it’s truly scrumptious!

Fresh: Supernova Mascara and Tinted Lip Treatment
If you’re seeking a fresh (no pun) look this season, then these are your best bet. The Supernova mascara lives up to its name by really making your lashes explode with volume. The best part is that this mascara is alcohol-free. I love to stay away from products with alcohol as much as possible because they terribly dry out my face. Last thing I want is shriveled, decrepit looking lashes, so this is a definite plus. The tinted lip treatment (I especially recommend the Honey, yum!) is fantastic – it’s super moisturizing and adds a nice touch of color. So while the mascara really makes your lashes pop, the lip treatment draws back just a little while still giving your lips a nice glow.

nails inc: Autumn Collection and Kensington Caviar Top Coat
I’ve been a fan of nails inc for quite awhile now mainly because of their spectacular collections. And their Autumn Collection ranks high on my list of must have nail polishes for this season. These four colors completely capture “Fall” and would especially look hot on your hands while you’re passing the gravy at the Thanksgiving table. The Kensington Caviar Top Coat has also been a long-time favorite of mine. While there are some (actually, many) top coats that bubble, crack, or peel within moments after applying, this top coat has always managed to stay strong for a few weeks after applying. These nails inc polishes and top coat attractively go hand in hand. Or nail in nail!

ybf: Delightful Dips Eyeshadow and Draw the Line Liquid Eyeliner
I’m a Sephora snob and 99.9% of my cosmetics come from there. Whenever I stray away from their retail realm I’m typically disappointed. But I’m happy to announce that ybf is an exception! After recently trying their Delightful Dips Eye Shadow and Draw the Line Liquid Eyeliner I can truly say I’m impressed. The eyeshadow is soft, luminous and long wearing – even without eyelid primer! And the liquid eyeliner is one of the best I’ve ever used. It’s super slick, so it applies easily to your lid. It also doesn’t take a millisecond to dry so if you happen to fudge your look you can easily wipe it off and start again. ybf is now one of my best friends.

Bath and Body Works: Anti-Bacterial Foaming Hand Soap and Body Lotion
You can never go wrong with BBW, especially with all their fantastic scents. As I said earlier, I love Thanksgiving because of all the food. So when I saw that this season’s Bath and Body Works scents were that of caramel apples and oatmeal cookies I was thrilled to say the least. Whether you’re soaping up or rubbing down your hands, the soap and lotion scents are incredibly long lasting. So don’t be surprised if you find your mouth watering hours after using these!
