As a borough-dweller, I never quite knew just how difficult it could be to fit a girl’s everyday beauty essentials into the tiny space that passes for a bathroom in many Manhattan apartments. That is, until my boyfriend moved into my formerly spacious apartment this past spring. All of a sudden, my vast amount of girl-space was diminished by a solid 50% – if not more. Enter the need for compact and multi-use products; products that help space-deprived New Yorkers make the maximum use of their minimal (yet costly) square footage.

Rodial’s Glam Balm boasts 100 uses. Best as an anti-aging hand and cuticle lotion or a deep treatment mask or overnight cream, this thick, rich concoction has myrrh extract and vitamin c to help plump up collagen in the skin. Available at or at Henri Bendel.

DuWop’s Bronzerush combines a full size bronzer and gel blush in one very slim, mirrored compact. Available in two shades, June (for lighter skin tones) or August (for darker skin tones), the blush gives the perfect, just pinched glow on the apples of cheeks while the bronzer is ideal for natural looking all over color without shimmer. Available at

Created by celebrity cosmetic dentist Dr. Pia Lieb, SexySmile is a convenient two in one perfect for small spaces and tiny handbags. This double-ended wand has shimmery lip gloss on one end and a brush on tooth whitener on the other. Available at

Estée Lauder’s Prime Fx Pro Concealment Kit is just 3″x 1″ and includes a line diffuser, two shades of concealer for blending and a wee pressed powder. Available at

A beautiful organic looking exterior hides a powerful shea butter and beeswax based multitasker; Zents Concreta is a fragrance, cuticle moisturizer and leave in conditioner (try it on brittle ends) packed into a tiny 1.5″ square. Available in ten fragrances including Petal, Oolong and Fig at

While the 6.76oz container isn’t tiny per se, Avène’s Micellar Lotion is an effective triple threat; cleansing lotion, makeup remover and toner in one. No rinsing required, skin is left soft and clean but never stripped. Available at select Duane Reade, CVS and Brooks locations.

So, there you have it. Six products ready to fit in the tiniest of spaces and the smallest of bathrooms; stock up on space-savers like these and stop tripping over scads of products on your way to the shower.
