Marisa Fazzina, a New York based makeup artist working in print, fashion, television and commercials, partnered up with Beauty News NYC to share some Spring Fever tips. Fazzina works as a color specialist within the cosmetics industry and is a self-proclaimed lipstick junkie. That last bit of information makes Fazzina one of us!
Green! Pink! Gold!: Fazzina had three words for what would be the big Spring trend, in terms of color. “Green! Pink! Gold,” she said. “Green eye shadow in bright shades and bold applications, such as one color all over the lid or try using it to create a cat-eye liner instead of black, makes for a refreshing change!” Gold is the season’s accent shade, with “beautiful yellow and pink toned golds being the ‘now’ version.” Finally, “pink-flushed cheeks and work with everything and go easily from day to night looks.” So write it down, live it, know, color your world with it. Make Green! Pink! Gold! your Spring beauty mantra.
Say “Bye Bye” to…: Fazzina said that “wearing opaque nude lipstick that is lighter than your skin tone” is so 2010 and on its way out the door for 2011. She said “It’s okay for a fashion magazine but in real life? It’s unflattering on everyone.” Toss the opaque nudes in favor of a bright, matte, hot pink mouth that pops.
Fazzina suggested Three Custom Color’s “Lollipop” Lip and Cheek Stain, which “is a gorgeous hot pink that works on all skin tones. It applies so sheer, you can’t possibly mess up the application. But you can also build the color to your desired intensity.”
Ch-ch-changes: Fazzina offered two simple tips for transitioning from the brittle, dry, doldrums of winter to the awakening of spring, saying, “Exfoliate regularly help your skin transition and help bring out your spring glow. And don’t forget the lips as this season is all about vibrant shades and dry flaky lips do not work with this look. Keep them conditioned well! She also recommended we “embrace bright lip colors. But instead of sheer versions, this season is all about vibrant full coverage shades of orange, red, cherry, fuchsia and yes, even purples and violet.”
Her New “Go To” Products: Fazzina’s favorite new product is Benefit’s Girl Meets Pearl Liquid Highlighter. She said, “It gives a natural looking luminous glow to skin that can be used as a subtle sheer highlight for day or built up for a more intense glow for evening.” We love versatility, too. Fazzina also adores Illamasqua Eyeliner in Alchemy. “It’s an amazing gold glitter eyeliner- the best one around,” she said.
