Ladies, it’s officially time to break out your peep-toes, wedges, gladiators and flip-flops because the warm weather is finally here! After a long winter of chocolate browns and those infamous black shades, it’s time to warm up your tootsies and hands with this seasons hottest shades. So without further ado, here are our favorite lacquers, in no particular order, to keep you looking beach ready all season long.
Lavender gets a bad rap as being an early spring, Easter shade perfect for marshmallow Peeps but not so much for your wardrobe or beauty collection. Well, pastels have made a comeback in beauty this season, from the shadow on your eyes down to the polish on your toes. Perfecting the trend is OPI’s Done Out in Deco, a creamy lavender shade, and Sula’s Sky, a pastel purple with a hint of blue. Lippman and Orly add some shimmer to their pastels with Purple Rain and Prim & Proper, respectively. Perfect for the instant-chip prone and the smudge-before-I’ve-left-the-salon type, nudes will be your best friend this season. Dashing Diva’s Strawberry Fields from their Spring Manhattan Collection is the perfect sheer pink along with Lippman’s Pretty Young Thing, a sheer pink with a bit more creaminess to it. Traditional nudes also take center stage for those who prefer to save the daring shades for their toes. Think iced lattes and granola browns courtesy of vegan polish brand PeaceKeeper’s Paint Me Forgiving and CND’s Cocoa. Just be sure to choose the right shade for your skin tone, it should match well since you’re going for a ‘barely there’ look. Representing the best of both worlds, blue lends itself to pastels in the form of a robin’s egg and brights reminiscent of the 80′s. Tracy Reese for Sally Hansen adds some shimmer to the teal blue shade Honeydew while Barielle keeps it opaque with Swizzle Stix. Tributes to a decade of big hair and bold colors start with Orly’s Calypso Breeze, a bright blue with a hint of crème and Essie’s Mesmerize, a rich royal blue. Sally Hansen available at drugstores; Barielle available at http://www.barielle.com ; Orly and Essie available at http://www.ulta.com .
I know what you’re thinking…green? Really? But trust me, this season we’re already addicted to the cool mint shades that made their way into several collections and look perfect on all skin tones. It all started with MAC’s Peppermint Patti and Orly’s Mint Mojito, both creamy mint greens to keep your nails looking a little frosted. If you’re less about opaque shades and like a nice shimmer, than follow the trend with Essie’s Greenport from the North Fork Collection or Barielle’s Sweet Addiction. The perfect pairing for 1950s inspired summer dresses you can never go wrong with red. Classic shades remain while last seasons orange hues infiltrate some classics offering up bright red-oranges. Dashing Diva’s Manhattan Collection curbs our hunger with a good old New York Slice, a bright tomato red, while Essie’s Lacquered Up is a true cherry red. Updating last seasons orange, NYC In a New York Color Minute’s Times Square is the perfect flamed red and Strawberry from POP Beauty is a classic red with a punch of orange. Tracy Reese for Sally Hansen takes it a step further to an almost coral hue with Nasturtium. Dashing Diva available at Dashing Diva locations; Essie available at http://www.ulta.com ; NYC and Sally Hansen available at drugstores; POP Beauty available at Sephora or http://www.sephora.com .
So whether you’re looking for a soft summer look or a vibrant shade to bring you out of that long winter rut, this seasons shades have you covered from hand to toe.
