Best of NYC

The weather is getting chilly, and autumn is filled with vibrant colors. It’s as if nature is putting on her jewels and showing off with hues of red and gold. Enjoy this season of crisp air because it won’t be long before grey days descend upon us.

With the wind whipping my hair across my face these past few days, I found the perfect item to hold my hair back – fun and flirty hair accessories from Alex and Ani. From elegant clips to sparkly bobby pins, as well as practical pony tail holders, Alex and Ani know how to make a woman twinkle.

Created by Carolyn Rafaelian-Ferlise, Alex and Ani is named after her two eldest daughters, Alexandria and Ani. Rafaelian-Ferlise was inspired by her father who had a well-established jewelry factory. She used her father’s large collection of hundreds of original jewelry casts to create beautiful pieces. The results of her creativity are collections of bracelets, rings, necklaces and pins…but my favorites are her hair accessories.

You don’t even have to have long-flowing tresses to dress your ‘do up with one of her lovely bobby pins. These pins encourage your dancing thoughts with names such as Ballet, Salsa and Waltz. Just push your bangs back with one or two and dance the night away.

If you’re in a saucy mood, her flowered clips with names like Marilyn, Missy and Loretta just cry out for attention. With their coordinating crystals and bright colors, they’ll remind you of Spring and Summer.

Alex and Ani also adds a special touch to ponytail holders. The Dream Catcher series is handcrafted in Italian leather, while the elegant Shell collection is perfect for a festive cocktail party.

Most of their current collections can be seen on their website where you can also place an order. I was lucky enough to spend an afternoon in their showroom, home to some of their previous collections. So if you’re hankering for an Alex and Ani accessory that your best friend got from a couple of seasons ago, you can call 1-800-725-7822…they’d be happy to find out if it’s still available.

Alex and Ani is also available at:
