While most of you ladies rang in the New Year partying in some of NYC’s hottest clubs, I was holed up in New Hampshire eating copious amounts of pizza, watching the ball drop with my boyfriend. Relaxing? Yes. Fattening? Ohhhh yes.
When I got back to the cityon January 4th, I was struck with thoughts of panic. What am I going to wear to work on Monday? How many articles of clothing do I own that contain Lycra? Could I take money out of my life savings for liposuction? Then it hit me- I needed to take responsibility for the fact that I ate all those Christmas cookies. However, I also needed to forget my holiday indulging and move forward. This year is going to be about small changes in my daily routine that make a big difference in my overall health. And while I don’t consider myself overweight, I would like to tone up and get my booty firm. I also would like to give up some bad habits and practice healthy eating. |
Trying this all at once is daunting. Baby steps, people, baby steps!!! So this week I’m starting by keeping a food log. I’m writing down everything I eat, the time, and the place where I eat it. My goal is to eat meals in the kitchen or dining room. (No more breakfasts in bed watching Regis & Kelly). Once I get used to this, I’ll incorporate another healthy change into my lifestyle. Follow me each week as I update you on the changes I’ve been making and the progress I’ve made towards my goal.
Of course this means I need to avoid the chocolate layer cake with buttercream icing, chocolate sprinkles and caramel drizzle that’s in the refrigerator. Instead, I’ll focus on how cute those skinny jeans look when I can finally zipper them up.
