How could this collection not be refreshing? Young talent working to make it in the industry, not yet cocky, with a drive for the fresh and exciting.
Ten different collections from the Academy debuted and successfully showcased the individuality and creativity of each designer. Some highlights of the show were Haa Cheng Thai’s beautiful laser-cut dresses that radiated femininity and were inspired by the art of paper folding and cutting. I loved MinSun Lee’s fun polka-dot layered knit dresses inspired by Russian Nesting Dolls, each model topped off with a fun matching helmet. I
also adored Kathryn Scully’s very wearable beachwear that is both simple and luxurious.
Hair and make-up reflected the students work; fresh and beautiful. Faces were kept soft with classically lined lids, rosy cheeks and pink lips. Hair was pulled away from the face with gel and left long and wavy to flow softly behind the waifs.
Love it – New talent and inspiration of fashion’s future generation. The expert cuts and folds in these collections were brilliant.
Leave it – Despite the boy toys draped in patent leather pants, making a runway appearance, the men’s collection left much to be desired.
