City Pulse

Old Hollywood of the 1940s and 1950s, as well as classic films such as “All About Eve”, “The Women”, and “Dark Victory”, inspired this season’s Badgley Mischka collection. The makeup look, by MAC, was very glamorous and remnant of the elegant and alluring era. The face was matte, using face powder and no blush on the cheeks, just contour and highlight on the cheekbones. The eyes were dark and seductive blues and silvers, and the look was created using different layers and colors of eye shadow, to build dimension and shape on the eyelid. The eyes were very metallic and luscious, with a lot of mascara and black liner to make the lashes very prominent. The idea was to create drama between the eyes and the face, making a very obvious contrast. The lips were very ladylike, using a raspberry color stain, applied with a brush, to make a very classic and sexy look.

The hair was very fitting with the collection and the makeup; very dramatic yet classy. The idea was to use the inspiration and bring it to the present, creating an interesting and fearless updo. The hairstylist, Peter Gray, said he had an image of a young Catherine Devenue in “The Hunger” in mind when he designed the look. His idea was to keep it confident, sophisticated, and passionate; “Hair that was the epitome of glamour.” The hair was twisted on both sides in different ways and met in the back on the side, finishing into a spiral rolled chignon. There is a deep side part dividing the hair, with one side rolled up into a full asymmetrical roll and the other side rope twisted low and back on to the other side, combining together at the back.

In the smooth, diagonal side part, a string of crystals was glued from the front of the head to the very back, lining the part with a little extra sparkle. Before styling, the hair was treated with Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream, then blow dried straight. When the look was formed, it was finished off with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray and Moroccacoil Glimmer Shine Spray. With the beautiful, rich, luxurious collection, the hair and makeup worked flawlessly. The long gowns and chic, ladylike pieces were enchanting and posh, just like the elegant hair and makeup looks. Glamour seems to really be making a comeback this season.
