Despite the eight million people that live in New York, any city girl can vouch that it often feels like the city lacks one thing: straight, available men.
Well, fret no more ladies, they are out there. Case and point: Ace Bar, located in the heart of Alphabet City. Ditch the sweats and Sex & The City reruns for this casual East Village dive bar where attractive Wall Street-types come to escape the pressures of the post-grad, twenty-something life. Maybe it’s the darts and skee-ball or perhaps the twin pool tables in the back room, but former frat boys and business school grads alike flock to Ace Bar in droves, establishing a very female-friendly ratio.
Don’t be alarmed by the kitschy décor, specifically the giant glowing werewolf hologram lurking behind the bar. It’s probably no worse than your college boyfriend’s dorm room, only with more pinball machines and a Big Buck Hunter set-up. Although you can probably expect to hear Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” at some point in the evening, the jukebox offers a range of music from classic rock to up to the minute indie hits.
Squeeze past the crowded entrance to the spacious back room, where you can test your skills at a game of pool or scope out the wildlife from the plush leather booths where you’ll surely be offered a drink in no time.
