Now through the end of October, catch the Berenstain Bears Live! in Family Matters, the Musical! Adapted from the classic children’s book series by Stan and Jan Berenstain, The Berenstain Bears LIVE! features an original score by Michael Borton and a book by Borton and Michael Slade.

The show is playing at the gorgeous facility, Manhattan Movement and Arts Center, located right off West End Avenue on 60th Street (park at Alliance Garage a few doors down for only $10). I brought my 3-year-old son for a ‘day at the theatre’ and what a day it was! After a ‘beary’ easy ride into the city from New Jersey, we both enjoyed this high quality production showcasing immensely talented performers in a beautiful theatre facility that we definitely intend on visiting more often (Freckleface Strawberry coming soon and Pinkalicious now playing!). The book and songs were fun and catchy (they kept the interest of my 3-year-old the entire time) and the impressive set, props and costumes rounded out this very professional Off-Broadway production. I’ll admit I was a tad concerned for my child during one particular musical number about talking to strangers that ended with a menacing wolf holding a knife to a duck; but other than that, it was a highly entertaining show with meaningful messages about being honest with and supportive of your family as well as the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle (I’ve even referenced the show and got my son to forego reaching for the cookie jar). We truly had a blast! And as if all that wasn’t enough, my son got a bear nose painted on his face, his picture taken with the Berenstain Bears and each cast member’s autograph after the show! All in all, a wonderful afternoon I will remember always. Visit to get tickets and more information.

Performance Schedule: Saturdays at 2pm and 4:30pm and Sundays at 2pm now through the end of October!
