Let’s face it: Spring cleaning doesn’t just comprise swapping out the clothes in your closet and dousing your apartment in Clorox. Arriving along with that itch to shed the winter “blahs” is a desire to re-decorate your home and start anew. BKLYN DESIGNS kicked off New York Design Week, highlighting the borough’s emerging and established talent with a smattering of furniture-laden showrooms sure to influence the styles of all your space-metamorphosing needs.
The three-day event celebrating art, design and architecture in the heart of DUMBO expanded to four venues this year, and – from May 9 – 11th, included a series of seminars, tours and parties. One of the topics emphasized this year was green living, which included a panel of experts who dispelled some of the myths about going green and offered advice about incorporating sustainability into daily living.
The 68 exhibitors highlighted in the four DUMBO venues included NICHE environmentally smart design group, Standard 41, Atelier Delalain, Aviva Stanoff, Balsera Woodworks, The Pratt Institute of Art, ASHA CARPETS, Kanik Chung Glass Blowing, Brave Space Design, Vexell and PALO SAMKO.
