Did you know that over 26 million Americans cannot afford to celebrate Thanksgiving? With the holidays around the corner many organizations are joining forces to help those who are less fortunate and to raise awareness of the growing number of Americans that have become dependent upon food pantries.
Canstruction will be showing their 16th annual design/build competition winners for the next two weeks. Canstruction is a charity competition that was created for engineers, contractors, students and architects to design and create giant structures made entirely from full cans of food. At the close of the exhibit all of the cans are then donated to City Harvest, a non-profit organization created 25 years ago to help end hunger in New York City communities through food rescue and distribution and education.
For the first time, the event will be open Thanksgiving weekend as well, so if you have family in town, bring them along. Help fight hunger, by attending the Canstruction exhibit and bringing canned food with you to donate to City Harvest. If you can’t make it, log onto www.cityharvest.org to find out how you can make a difference.
