Similar to St. Patrick’s Day, Cinco de Mayo is a traditional holiday celebrated by everyone rather than just those of its heritage. (a.k.a. anyone who can stomach a day full of tacos and tequila.) So without further ado, we leave you with some noteworthy celebrations and tips on creating an at home fiesta.

Elizabeth restaurant in Nolita has a deal from 5 to 7 pm, during which they’ll be selling 50 cent shots of Tanteo tequila, 50 cent pulled-pork tacos, and $5 Tanteo cocktails. There will also be a special Chocolate Tequila Sorbet and Tanteo Jalapeno Tequila Gelato (1 scoop for 50 cents) made by Il Laboratorio del Gelato. All leading up to the breaking of a pià±ata at 7pm in the restaurant’s garden. 265 Elizabeth Street, 212.334.2426, Cash only.

Cabrito restaurant in the West Village known for their house made cabrito (goat), will be celebrating their first anniversary as well as Cinco de Mayo. Throughout the day they’ll be offering their $9 brunch drink special, which will gets you a choice of three Bloody Marys, Sangrias, or Mimosas. At 4 p.m., the Cinco de Mayo Happy Hour kicks off with $5 margaritas, $3 Coronas, and pints ($3) / pitchers ($12) of Dos Equis. Their regular happy hour menu will be joined by a special street food menu featuring assorted tacos, flautas and tostadas, while the staff hands out drink tokens redeemable at their evening fiesta starting at 9 pm. If you plan on holding your own party at home, head over to the Holidays and Parties section of http://www.FoodNetwork.com for recipes on everything from guacamole to creating your own taco bar and finishing the night with a cheesecake flan. To get the juices flowing, we recommend picking up a bottle of Gran Centenario Rosangel, a hibiscus-infused tequila and mixing up some unconventional margaritas. Recipe follows:

1 ½ oz Rosangel
½ oz Premium Orange Liqueur
1 tbsp Agave Nectar
Juice of 1 Lime
1 tbsp freshly squeezed Orange Juice
1 tbsp Cranberry Juice
Splash of Ginger Ale
1 ½ cups of Ice
Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a glass or serve over ice.
