Like summer boyfriends, a girl can never have too many pairs of jeans. In true summer crush fashion, jeans also come in a multitude of shapes, sizes and flavors – it’s just a matter of finding the one that makes you go “Oh Yeah”.

But just when we girls think we have this jean thing all figured out, a curveball in the equation comes along. Denim is invading the streets of New York in way that goes beyond just jeans. Think one piece jumpers, pencil skirts, blazers, bathing suits, button down shirts, vests and every type of accessory from bags to bangles to ballet flats.

Whatever your fancy, there is a style for everyone. The piece that is sure to last from summer to winter, thereby giving you the most bang for your buck, is the denim button down. Whether worn with shorts for lazy days in Sheep’s Meadow or under a blazer for a lasting impression at the big meeting, this piece is young, classic and a new staple in any wardrobe. JCrew’s Selvedge Chambray Shirt ($88) or Lauren Jeans Co. Women’s Woven Chambray Shirt ($50 available at Bloomingdales) fit the bill perfectly.

Note to the denim obsessed: Keep it to one denim piece per outfit; nothing’s worse than looking like a Levi Strauss reject!
