George Bernard Shaw once said that, “Youth is wasted on the young” but what about fashion? Sure, countless television ads and editorial spreads tout that folks can be “fashionable at any age,” but it’s rare to see the older set out and about sporting anything other than mom jeans, muumuus or shoulder pad-enhanced tops.
Which is why the street-style blog Advanced Style is so hysterically fulfilling, refreshing and entertaining. The site’s mantra touts, “Proof from the wizened and silver-haired set that personal style advances with age,” and keen-eyed contributors submit stories and shots of stylish elders that bear headlines like, “Best Dressed Man on Madison,” “Cape and Class” and “In Black on Bowery.” |
