Today, April 22nd marks the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day, a special day created to raise awareness and appreciation of the environment. In honor of this special day, green-focused brands and companies everywhere are offering special deals to their customers and will be planting trees and donating money in response to your purchases.

Here’s the rundown on how you can score some green products and make a difference:

emerginC, the paraben-free naturally sourced ingredients skincare line will be planting a tree for every product purchased on their website. Load up on skincare travel kits and some of their 30+ sunblock for your summer vacation. Through the end of April, 10% of proceeds from the sale of their complexion perfection and hydra-repair capsules will go to Environmental Working Group (EWG), a group that works to protect kids from toxic chemicals in everything from our food, water and air.

Belabumbum, the Brazilian lingerie boutique will be offering 10% off of all of their bamboo made items now through May 5th by entering EARTHDAY2010 at checkout. All purchases also mean that another 10% is donated to the New York Restoration Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to restoring NYC parks, community gardens and open space.

Origins is keeping the green spirit alive with their Trade-In Program initiative. Today, they’re offering customers the chance to bring any empty cosmetic container to an Origins retail store or counter, to be recycled for you through their Return to Origins Recycling Program. You’ll be able to trade in your empty container for a free full-sized Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash or A Perfect World Antioxidant Cleanser with White Tear. Visit for a location near you.

Lavera at the Green Shows, is Grand Central Terminal’s luxury eco pop-up bazaar, chock-full of natural and organic beauty, fashion and lifestyle items. If you haven’t been already, let the Earth Day vibes inspire a visit and support the eco-initiatives and new brands that are popping up to raise awareness and to make green products more accessable. The market is open until 7pm today
