New Yorkers are serious about their cupcakes. We partake during meetings, on random Tuesdays, and stick candles in them for birthdays and celebrations. Everyone knows Crumbs is where you go for that one freakishly large confection. Magnolia keeps things simple and buttery, and Baked by Melissa is for the mini cupcake lover. But even with all these options, NYC was still missing something. Sisters Katherine Kallinis and Sophie LaMontagne, founders of Georgetown Cupcake in DC and stars of the hit TLC reality show DC Cupcakes, have finally filled the void.

The new Soho location boasts a quaint pink and white atmosphere, identical to Georgetown’s sister locations. Be assured though, all the locations bake their own on site using the best ingredients which include Valrhona chocolate and pure vanilla from Madagascar. We’ve become addicted to their signature icing which is made from vanilla cream cheese and is less sweet than most butter cream icings.
They really get creative and have a delicious variety of flavor favorites that includes Salted Caramel, Big Apple Crumble, and NY Cheesecake. Every month celebrates a holiday du jour by baking up batches that make the day even more special. Don’t miss the upcoming Irish Cream or pretty green St. Patty’s Day cupcakes… guaranteed to bring you good luck. Have a look at their online calendar for pictures of all the monthly specials. Their Easter cupcake is especially adorable with its green nest icing.
Whatever the occasion, they’ve got it covered with a cupcake!
Head on over to Mercer to see why Georgetown Cupcake is where you go for some of the most delicious cupcakes in town.
