Many stores are already transitioning to fall but you can still nab some really great end of summer bargains on quality apparel and accessories. We’ve done the leg work now it’s your turn to run to these sales while they last. Most sales end around August 15th.

Calypso Christiane Celle
935 Madison Avenue
You may imagine the faint beat of a steel drum and island waves washing ashore as you lay eyes on the rows of diaphanous fabrics in Calypso. These clothes are so light you may forget you’re dressed. The prices are heavenly at 50 to 75 percent off with an additional 20 percent reduction at the register. I purchased a $110 bathing suit that was $30 and then 20 percent off. That’s right. It cost me $24. I confess to shopping at several locations since the sale items vary from store to store. Try the outlet in SoHo at 424 Broome Street, which has exclusively sale merchandise. Also, check, for a list of locations and to shop the online sale.

Henri Bendel
712 Fifth Avenue
The lingerie sale here is divine, especially when it is 50 to 75 percent off the original price. I even ran into Ivanka Trump shopping in lingerie (alas, not the sale rack).

Bergdorf Goodman
754 Fifth Avenue
This is my personal favorite sale. The second floor designer shoe sale is the best ever with all summer shoes 65 percent off the original price. Get your Manolo Blahniks and Jimmy Choos for next summer. Find less expensive styles by Theory, Delman and Marc by Marc Jacobs on the fifth floor.

The fifth floor clothing sale is heavy on Theory, so if you love that designer this is your place. Also check out the denim sale where Paige, AG, Hudson, Joe’s and many others are drastically reduced. I spied some as low as $49.

Finally, check out the beach wear on the sixth floor. Get your hands on the sexiest swimsuits and cover-ups by Dolce & Gabbana, Moschino and La Perla at a fraction of the price.

If it’s too hot to venture outside you can shop the online sale at

Shanghai Tang
714 Madison Avenue
Go right upstairs to the second floor for one of the best sales I’ve ever seen. Prices are up to 70 percent off the original ticket price. If you’re looking for some one of a kind summer separates, dresses and handbags then take a look.

Luca Luca
1011 Madison Avenue
I always admired the windows of this shop but never ventured in until now. The clothing is magnificent and now it’s on sale for 50 percent off. Prices are steep but if you love the clothes it’s worth it. All summer shoes are on sale for $200.

693 Fifth Avenue
This serene jewel on Fifth Avenue is an oasis amid the frenetic pace outside. Enjoy the calming atmosphere while you head to the 4th floor for deep reductions on the neutral toned Asian inspired women’s wear.

BCBG Max Azria
2005 Broadway
Sale racks marked 30, 50 and 70 percent off the ticket prices greet you immediately at this location. There is a great selection of summer wear, including bathing suits.

1003 Madison Avenue
This store still has a large selection of sale items including shoes, tops, denim, dresses and swim wear. You can also get great deals online at The shoes are especially good deals both online and in the store.

Broadway & 73rd Street
Don’t be misled by the name, this is not the same place your mother or grandmother used to shop. It is filled with the latest styles and a huge shoe department. The summer sale is down and dirty with 20 to 40 percent off the lowest ticket price on most items, which have already been discounted.

816 Madison Avenue
All summer apparel, including tops, dresses, jackets and pants is 60 percent off the original price. Joseph is known for its well-fitting pants. I have two pairs that I bought eons ago (on sale of course) and they fit like a dream.

805 Madison Avenue
Sale merchandise varies in each location and is generally 30 percent off the lowest ticket price. The store on 68th and Madison Avenue has a nice selection left. Check online at for other store locations.

Well, what are you waiting for? Get going! Happy shopping!
