By Jan Lee

When celebrating St. Patty’s Day, everyone knows the drink of choice is Irish green ale. But if you want to go against the grain this year, here are a few nontraditional CP picks for you.

The main ingredient of this drink is Irish, but the name and attitude…all New York.

Yes, this is a margarita. And yes, St. Patrick’s Day is supposed to celebrate Irish, not Spanish, culture, but we did say “nontraditional.”

Ingredients:

2 ounces SKYY Melon
1/2 ounce triple sec
A splash of orange curaçao
Juice of 2 limes

Directions:

Pour the ingredients into a shaker with ice cubes. Shake until frothy. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. You can also blend this cocktail with 3/4 cup ice in a blender and serve and/or rim the glass with salt.
