The “global village” is a moniker that’s very apropos for NYC, considering all of the different nationalities that reside on our great island. On March 2nd-4th, we can also consider it a global vineyard (sort of). Because that weekend the NY Wine Expo plants itself at the Javits Convention Center, along with 175 wineries from around the world. For its fifth installment, the Grand Tasting brings us wines from France, Greece, Italy, New Zealand, Portugal, South Africa, Spain and more, and provides an opportunity to sample a wide range of selections and varietals. Attendees will also have direct access to the winemakers themselves. So if you’ve got questions – they’ve got the answers.

Having attended myself last year, I can tell you firsthand it’s a great experience for oenophiles to indulge in. There are several seminars taking place as well that run the gamut from teaching beginners to enlightening seasoned vets, including “Wine 101: Taste Like a Pro with Wine Spectator, ” “Wine Spectator Presents Portugal,” and “The Rhône Valley: A River Runs Through It…with Mark Oldman.” Wine accessories and specialty foods will be on hand to enhance the experience. Need another incentive? Well, BN readers get a $15 OFF TICKETS when you use the promo code Grapes10. So now there’s absolutely no excuse not to get going…
