Inner Beauty
Face in need of some serious TLC? You need to get yourself to Gloss Day Spa (51 East 73rd Street), stat. We’ve had many a painful extraction in the name of beauty, but none left our skin clearer and feeling more refreshed than this spot’s Silver Star Facial ($90). While the treatment rooms may seem a bit on the clinical side, the fact that the spa is housed in a converted apartment will put you right at ease. And the owner, Dana, couldn’t be sweeter! The spa offers tons of customized facials along with body treatments (wraps, massages, bronzing and waxing) and microdermabrasion. They’ve also got fantastic packages such as the MicroStar Package ($250), which includes a deep cleansing facial, microdermabrasion, full upper body massage and a complimentary eye or face cream. It’s definitely worth checking out.

Breathe in, breathe out. Breathe in, breathe out. That should be the mantra at Exhale (980 Madison Avenue), whose 10,000-square-foot space is home to 15 therapy rooms and 2 huge studios for yoga and the spa’s signature Core Fusion classes. The massages are to-die-for and you can even have acupuncture done here. But our favorite little luxury here is Eliza’s Eyes, an eyebrow station started by famed brow master Eliza Petrescu that literally leaves your brows looking better than they ever have. Trust us – we were thrilled with the results.

If you’re on the lookout for every fantastic beauty brand under the sun, you must already know about Barneys New York (660 Madison Avenue). The beauty floor is flooded with amazing options like Chantecaille, Fresh, Kiehl’s, NARS, by Terry, Bobbi Brown, T LeClerc, Shu Uemura…seriously, what’s not to love? We once spent our entire lunch break – and, oops, the rest of the afternoon – browsing here. You should also check out Clyde’s On Madison (926 Madison Avenue), where in addition to the name brand you can also find Guerlain lipglosses, Diptyque candles, Phyto hair products and skin cream by Peter Thomas Roth.

Summer or winter, rain or shine, every girl needs a good spray tan. And our go-to gal is Anna Stankiewicz at the Rita Hazan salon (720 5th Avenue). Hopefully you’re comfortable being naked in front of a complete stranger – but even if you’re not, Anna puts you at ease immediately. She chatters on about fashion, celebrity gossip, the weather … anything it takes to make you feel okay…all while misting your entire body with just the right amount of color to make every single person who looks at you say, “Wow.” You’ll have a beachy, I-just-got-back-from-two-weeks-in-St.-Barths glow that lasts up to 2 weeks without streaking or patching. At $80+, it’s not cheap – but it is worth it.
