Put your pricey gym membership on hold this month. The New York City Department of Parks & Recreation is offering it’s annual Summer On The Hudson FREE evening Pilates & Yoga classes in the serene Riverside Park South, overlooking the breezy Hudson River. Whether you’re looking to tone up for that long Labor Day weekend in the Hamptons or you’re just looking to distress and unwind from a brutal day until the florescent lights, these fitness classes are sure to be exactly what your body needs.

Pilates Mat Classes are taking place on Tuesday evenings from 6:30pm-7:30pm through August 24th, 2010. Base Fitness will guide you through a superior core workout as you watch the sunset over the water.

Hatha Yoga will be led by Ruth Vargas on Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm-7:30pm through September 22nd, 2010. This class is suitable for all fitness levels.

Please bring your own mat and wear loose comfortable clothing. Take note that all classes are held weather permitting.

So grab your friends and head on over for some last minute summer bodywork. And, since we don’t always have to be so healthy, I suggest grabbing a burger and pitcher of sangria afterward at Riverside Park South’s amazing outdoor summer restaurant grill, Pier 1.
