City Pulse

By Yasmin Jorge

This week I attended an international trade show in SoHo dedicated to children and Mamas. Playtime New York gathered 75 vendors; from the U.S., France, Japan, Australia, Canada, and England, among other countries, in an over-sized loft/gallery space on trendy Mercer Street. These merry merchants previewed wonderful products sure to put smiles on many faces, from newborn to adult.

Here are some of the new and eclectic goodies that made me happy. Feast your eyes Beauty News NYC readers and go shopping for you and your tots. Visit the websites to find nearby stores or shop online.

Winter Water Factory offers handmade clothes, totes, and blankets in fresh, bold and beautiful textile prints. Everything is printed on soft organic cotton and fashioned into classic comfortable designs. Moms and kids can have fun coordinating their outfits if they like. Founder and designer, Stephanie Lynen, started this line six years ago and keeps her production facility in the heart of Brooklyn. http://www.winterwaterfactory.com.

Tutu Couture™ makes this Mama want to wear one bad. Founder and creative director Amanda Whitney designs stunning candy colored chiffon and tulle creations for little princesses everywhere. Petite darlings will love pretending and playing in these sweet romantic tutus from morning to night. http://www.tutucouture.com. Custom made orders are also available.

Lucky Wang NYC is an Asian inspired lively collection of clothes, booties and bags for newborn through six-year old. Lucky Wang boutiques in Manhattan are located on 799 Broadway at E. 11th Street and 82 Seventh Avenue at W. 15th Street. http://www.luckywang.com.

Little Packrats are whimsical 3-D backpacks, lunch totes, change purses, and more, for all family members – straps are adjustable. President and designer Cathy Berse-Hurley started her business 13 years ago. An artist, she designed unique and cool backpacks for her twin toddler boys. Today they are off to college and
her line is thriving. All products are made in the U.S., green, durable, and feature universally endearing animal motifs. http://www.littlepackrats.com.

Zolima, from Hong Kong, just launched its’ collection of kids luggage and matching accessories in the U.S. Pieces are both beautiful and utilitarian. I can’t fit my stuff into the suitcases, but at least I can use the smaller bags and purses.

Bakker Made With Love has to-die-for handbags for Moms and daughters in sleek designs and chic retro patterns. While based in Paris, NY boutiques carry the line, such as Pumpkin on 334 Bleecker Street and CPW on 495 Amsterdam Avenue. http://www.bakkermadewithlove.com.
