|This Saturday, October 2nd, Mariel Hemingway and Bobby Williams will co-host “Unity in Style,” a charity fashion show and live auction benefiting The Giving Planet, a unique non-profit that encourages young people around the world to share their stories through digital media. Using meditation, art and technology in its workshops, The Giving Planet connects teens across the globe for ongoing dialogue and fosters a new level of cultural understanding- something that is very much needed in today’s world. Actress and UNICEF Ambassador Téa Leoni serves as honorary board chairperson.|
This extraordinary event will showcase the work of emerging clothing designers EDUN, Jennifer Chun, Robert James, Emily Sinnott, Sucker Jeans, Taashki, Katherine Kim, Anna Lassiter and Lucinda Robinson. Accessories featured will include jewelry by Nancy Melet and silk shawls by Suzanne Silk. Photography of the styles has been done by teens of The Giving Planet from Ghana, Kenya and Uganda.
In addition to the fashion show and auction, other spectacular highlights will include entertainment by a jazz ensemble, the Claudia Eliaza Quartet, and a Ghanaian dance performance. Yummy organic appetizers will be served. Tickets (advanced sales only) are $175 online at http://www.thegivingplanet.org/unityinstyle/. It’s a highly worthwhile global cause and is going to be an evening to remember.
