A quick history lesson for you first, (didn’t you learn in high school that there’s no such thing as a “free lunch”?) In 1647, Peter Stuyvesant, the governor of the Dutch colony of New Amsterdam (known today as New York) planted a pear tree on his farm-now the intersection of Thirteenth Street and Third Avenue, home to Kiehl’s Since 1851 Flagship store. The tree thrived for 220 years until its untimely demise after being struck by a wagon in 1867. On November 12th, 2003 Kiehl’s re-planted a pear tree on what was once referred to as “Pear Tree Corner” receiving a declaration from Mayor Michael Bloomberg proclaiming November 12th “Kiehl’s Day“.
Now that wasn’t so hard was it? Moving onto the goodies…Kiehl’s is conducting its very own election where customers in-store and via kiehls.com can vote on the next new “Pear Tree Corner” products.
