Planning a trip to Japan soon? Yea…me neither. Lucky for us though, the melting pot of a city that will live in will be home to the Japan Street Fair this Sunday.
Part of the Daytop Madison Avenue Festival that spans from 42nd to 57th Streets, the Japanese Street Fair will introduce new products and food to city dwellers. Approximately 40 booths will offer up a days worth of Japanese culture: food, merchandise, performances, and activities. In one place, visitors can sample such delectable fare as miso-marinated beef, roasted mochi, and okonomiyaki, a multi-ingredient savory pancake. Or you can take a crash course in calligraphy; enjoy martial arts performances, Japanese drum sets and other cultural exhibits. |
You can also enter to win round-trip tickets to Japan and score some gifts from the Japan Fair’s supporters with special purchases. So start practicing your chopsticks skills, brush up on your Japanese and taste a few signature dishes because you could be headed to Japan sooner than you thought!
A portion of the proceeds from the NYC Japan Fair will be donated to Daytop, a drug-free counseling organization.
