On Monday we told you all about our New Year’s resolutions for 2009, but silly us forgot to ask you what your resolutions are! If you haven’t come up with one yet, you still have some time to decide before it gets too close to 2010. If we may make a suggestion, why not feed your inner bookworm and become a friend of the New York Public Library?
For a mere (tax deductible) $40, you receive not only discounts on LIVE from the NYPL tickets but you also have the privilege to purchase them presale, as a friend of the library. LIVE events include conversations, debates and performances. The list of perks goes on; expect invitations to exclusive members-only lectures and events, a subscription to NYPL’s donor magazine, a 10% discount at their shop and digital gallery and behind the scenes tours of the Library’s collections.
Though becoming a friend of the library isn’t just about perks and access to enlightening events and lectures, it’s about 44 million people that visit the library each year and by becoming a friend you help the library provide free access to programs, services and materials to all of it’s visitors.
So why not resolve to support the wonderful world of books or to read more yourself? Maybe you can resolve to do a good deed once a week, as I’m sure you could get used to that warm fuzzy feeling…
