The dubious and fabulous Alexander McQueen, in the height of fashion season launched his Target collection yesterday, following the footsteps of such greats as Thakoon, Isaac Mizrahi and Proenza Schouler, who’ve also created lines for the mass market in the past few years. Everyone’s favorite rebel rouser is clearly heaving the same type of lavishness seen on his runways into the isles of the well-known national retailer, and I, for one, am ecstatic.

The line, which more closely resembles McQueen’s youth-geared McQ line, (as opposed to his opulent, couture runway looks) is stylish and chic, with details and quality far beyond its miniscule price tags. The line was mainly inspired by singer Leila Moss, of the punk band The Duke Spirit, and features studs, tattoo prints and other rock inspired details.

Standouts include a flirty, asymmetrical zig zag print party dress, a surprisingly flattering black jumpsuit and a black leather studded vest and at $139, it’s the priciest piece in the collection.

The best part – McQueen is slated as merely the first in a succession of designers who Target plans to contribute to their Designer Collaborations line. Watch out for beachy dresses by Tracy Feith and accessories galore courtesy of Jaye Hersh, owner of Intuition, a Hollywood boutique that’s become a favorite of celebs like Paris Hilton and Lauren Conrad.
