Black and winter white were the colors du jour and severe silhouettes ruled the runway for Alice Roi’s Fall 2007 collection.
Bumble & Bumble Lead Editorial Stylist Neil Moodie and his team kept hair natural with texture enhanced by B&B’s own thickening spray. The product was rough dried into hair, leaving the model’s manes fluffy and light, youthfully exuberant. The models wore adorned ponytail holders with thin silver plastic strips cut to match the length of each their hair. The result was a whimsical, delicate shimmer enhanced by movement. “Ponytails don’t have to be boring,” said Moodie, “accessories make it feel more special…less lazy.” Wise words for late risers to remember on Monday morning.
Makeup for Alice Roi was by Bourjois, with rock star makeup artist Stephane Marais leading a talented team. A dark eye was the focus, with two shades of eye kohl, black and gunmetal gray, blended and smudged artfully. A natural lip and dewy cheeks kept the look in balance.
Overall, the designer’s collection for fall was strong and wearable, with many takes on the LBD, the LWD and schoolgirl plaid skirts and trench as standouts. Roi specializes in realistic gear for the New York woman from a New York woman.
