Great food and shopping. What more, besides grandkids, could Mom ask for on her special day? Below the Nicole Farhi’s New York flagship store featuring the womens’ and home collections, sits this English-style spot. With a “precisionist” style of modern European cooking, London-based executive chef Annie Wayte, uses fresh, organic and seasonal ingredients to cook up brunch faves like buttermilk pancakes with blueberries and the Egg Special with mushrooms. The $30 and under prices leave plenty of moolah for shopping. An open kitchen enclosed in a glowing glass cube provides a luminescent aura bound to brighten the groggiest of days, but hopefully, May showers won’t mess with Mother’s Day!

A proper salute to Mom on Mother’s Day can be done properly at Salute! by choosing from their special 5-course brunch prix fixe menu created by their new Executive Chef, Carlo Apolloni. For $40 (children are half price), you can select some of his new Italian-with-a-modern-twist creations, such as French Toast a la Salute! (brioche, apple and pine nuts compote) or Salmone Arrosto (organic king salmon, braised nappa cabbage, guanciale vinaigrette). With the sun (hopefully) shining through the large windows facing Madison Avenue, the white-toned interior will make you look the like the angel you want your mom to think you are.

Named for it’s proximity to the Dream Hotel and Sigmund Freud’s mother, this Midtown West restaurant will be serving a la carte specials including goat cheese and pepper biscuits, polenta pancakes with warm berry compote, and wild strawberry and fresh ricotta kanefe with green almond sorbet. Executive Chef Ivy Stark offers seasonal Mediterranean-American entrees priced between $8-12, which includes bottomless Bloody Mary’s and Mimosas. Or you can top off the meal with an orange blossom Gin fizz if that suits your fancy. (Umm, hello and good afternoon!) The Baroque-inspired interior features layered custom hand-painted wall coverings, black Murano glass chandeliers and exposed brick and stone wall surfaces. Don’t forget to get the Tangerine Orange Jam along with its recipe that they’ll be handin out to all the moms. And don’t try to sneak one past her and pretend like you bought it, either. You know your mother’s got an eagle eye!
