Alice+Oliva continued to grace the runways this season with an eclectic mix of fashions for their Fall 2013 collection. Described as “Fantasy Street Style,” Stacey Bendet’s Fall 2013 collection features an array of deep reds, blacks, browns and greys paired with lace overlays, plaids, quilted leather, and fur. Inspired by the everyday girl, Alice+Olivia says the collection was created by “envisioning a cool, clever, free spirit wandering the streets of Paris…”

To make Bendet’s Fantasy Street Style come to life, makeup artists, hair stylists and nail professionals worked tirelessly backstage. Antonio Corral Calero, lead hair stylist and Moroccanoil Artistic Director, paired the collection with a free-falling braided up do. “We wanted to combine something that is quite romantic but at the same time, something that will go with the clothes that are more rock star,” said Calero. “So it’s super easy,” and it really was.

Calero spent no more than seven minutes on each model.

Get the look: Use Moroccanoil Treatment to condition and add shine to the hair followed by a quick spray of Moroccanoil Heat Styling Protection to protect the hair. Then saturate the hair with Moroccanoil Volumizing Mousse to create texture and blow it out straight. Next, part the hair in the center, create two loose braids and wrap them around so they meet at the front top of the head and pin them together like a halo. *If you have shorter hair, Calero says part the hair in the middle and put the hair into two ponytails. With the ponytails you can add extensions and braid the extensions. Finish the look with a quick splash of Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray.

Pros tip: Calero adds, “You have to do it so it doesn’t look done. Don’t try to make it look super clean. My tip would be don’t spend more than 7 minutes on the look.” And if you want to dramatize the look even more, don’t worry about you’re roots. Showing your roots makes the braided halo look more severe. Now you’re ready to rock!

Makeup artist to the stars and Stila Global Creative Director, Sarah Lucero, finished the look with renaissance inspired make up. “I was very inspired by Italian art, think of something really old and vintage like a gorgeous museum with frames that have gold leafing flaking off of it,” Lucero added.

Get the look: Lucero used Stila Beauty Balm Stay All Day Foundation and Concealer to create a flawless porcelain complexion. “The key is, if you’re going to do makeup with a dark lip, you have to really perfect the skin.” Next, use Stila’s In the Light eye shadow palette and Metal-eyes Foil Finish shadow in bronze. The In the Light eye shadow palette comes with 10 amazing, shimmering colors. Pros tip: Lucero suggests, “Try wetting the brush. You can try Stila Jewel eye shadows in citrine; it’s kind of that golden coppery color and pop it close to the lash line so it catches the light.” To add some contrast to the face, lightly brush on Stila’s Custom Color Blush in Self Adjusting Bronze, but be careful not to make it too “beachy.” Finish the look with dark, glossy lips. Lucero and her team used Stila’s Stay All Day Lip Vinyl Gloss in Merlot. Make sure to add high shine to the lips and you’ll look like a Renaissance queen!

Makeup and hair isn’t complete without a gorgeous manicure. There to complete the full look, Founder of NCLA Nail wraps and lacquers, was Elin Dannerstedt. For Alice+Olivia’s fall 2013 collection, NCLA used a crimson red called “Rush Hour” and a metallic blue called “Call Me for the After Party.” “We also made a nail wrap for the show which is a plaid nail wrap and it’s based on one of Alice and Olivia’s designs,” said Dannerstedt. NCLA known for their popular nail wraps will make the plaid nail wraps available at Alice+Olivia boutiques this fall.

Ending the night just a few days before Valentine’s Day, designer of Alice+Olivia Stacey Bendet told BeautyNewsNYC, “I wanted the hair and makeup to feel sexy and romantic, so we did a really sexy lip and just really romantic wispy hair.” And it certainly was a sexy, romantic night!
