City Pulse

Preen showed a beautiful and fresh collection this season; definitely my favorite so far. Preen never fails to deliver incredibly well designed collections season after season, and this year, they’ve shown us a collection full of vivid colors and feminine shapes, with a bit of a sporty influence, inspired by Victorian scrapbooks. The prints are a beautiful interpretation of flora and fauna, decorating the woman’s body in chic silhouettes.

The makeup look was created by the talented Gucci Westman for Revlon. She painted a fresh face on each model, and the inspiration for the look was a sporty “no makeup makeup”. The look starts with a lot of layering of creams and oils for young, fresh and shiny skin. The idea was to get the color placement just right on the cheek in order to get a flushed, natural look as opposed to overly made up. Cheek color is Revlon’s PhotoReady Cream Blush in Flushed, $12.99. Getting the dewy, youthful, glowing skin was key to getting the sporty-chic effortlessness. The eye is coated with a light layer of Revlon’s Limited Edition Highlighting Stick in Golden, $9.99, as well as Gucci Westman’s Revlon Limited Edition Shadow Palette, $9.99. Revlon Grow Luscious Lash Liner in Brown, $8.99 lines the eyes lightly. The lashes are defined with Revlon PhotoReady 3D Volume Mascara in Black, $8.99.

The lips were stained with a mixture of three different lip colors, including Revlon Just Kissable in Crush and Adore, both $8.99, and Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Mink, $7.99. The browns and deep mauves layered together create a naturally deep, rich lip color.

Preen’s collection this season needed a streamlined look for the hair to go with the sophistication of the clothing silhouettes. Paul Hanlon for Aveda worked on the look. The hair was pulled back and split into two halves that were tied together. The hair was prepped using Aveda Pure Abundance Hair Potion for texture and volume. The idea was movement, windblown, messy yet aerodynamic and sleek. The front of the hair was pushed back with small plastic combs in a very random way, like she was in a rush to get her hair out of her face. The fly aways and stray pieces were sprayed in place using Aveda Air Control Hairspray and layers of the Aveda Volumizing Tonic, for a weathered look.
