Lucio Castro‘s Spring 2013 menswear collection is the new casual: preppy, clean-cut, with pops of neon. Easy separates with color-blocking, subtle stripes, and casual cotton suits reflect a laid-back, athletic mood.

To complement the collection, lead stylist Jeff Wacker wanted to achieve a sporty look, as if the guy got out of the water and let the hair air-dry in pieces. Jeff combined Moroccanoil Sculpting Gel and Molding Cream and infused it with a dryer to get a crunchy texture, with light spritzes of Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray and water in a spray bottle as a touch-up. This look is great for wet or dry hair and adds texture for the on-the-go guy.

To smooth out skin and dark circles, Covergirl Smoothers BB cream in 810 and 815 was applied with a wedge sponge applicator, Rimmel Match Perfection concealer in 245 light and Maybelline Instant Age Rewind treatment concealer (both available in a pen applicator), set by L’Oreal Truematch Superblendable powder in soft ivory.

At Rochambeau, lead stylist Kevin Hughes wanted to create an individualized look to reflect each gentleman, keeping it polished but not conservative. To create that shiny, healthy hair and bring out natural waves, Kevin used Morrocanoil treatment oil and Hydrating Molding Cream and Sculpting Gel. To finish it off, Luminous Hairspray in Medium Finish was worked in with a diffuser. No middle or side parts were to be seen. Windswept James Dean was a huge influence, hair was cut very close on the sides and teased with a tail comb and fingers, working in the molding cream and gel to create volume at the top of the head. For longhaired guys, a casual chignon twisted on top of the head was finished with molding cream.

Lead makeup artist Erin Green emphasized masculine, chiseled bone structure by applying powder to the cheekbones and brow-bone. She kept the skin super matte with Chanel finishing powder and MAC mineralized finish powder. Rochambeau’s Spring 2013 collection combines crisp deconstructed tailoring and natural, effortless cotton separates in pyramid, sand-dune print and neutral tan, black, and cream with an apocalyptic twist.

Both of these collections emphasize hair texture and volume for the edgy male.
