Designer Elie Tahari is known for his classic, wearable collections with flair, and for spring his palette is full of bright colors and textures. The inspiration for the collection is a 1950’s cocktail party in Palm Springs, California. To contrast the bright corals, shades of blue and lime greens in the collection, the hair and make-up was simple, yet elegant, feminine and a bit undone.
The make-up, designed by Romy Soleimani, Beauty Director for Beauty.com, was clean and natural, with minimal coverage. Soleimani used products by Jane Iredale, beginning with a new primer called Smooth Affair that was used on the face as a base. Next, a mineral based Glow Time BB Cream that comes in six shades, was applied to each model’s face. It goes on very lightly but provides coverage as well. The eyes were lined with a smudged line created with a new eyeshadow trio called Sundown, with shades of beige, grey and tan. The cheeks had a natural flush with In Touch Cream Blush in a brick red shade called Confidence. Lips were natural with a lip balm for moisture.
The lead hairstylist, Esther Langham, said that Tahari likes the women to be sexy but not too done. To create this relaxed look, Langham mixed Alterna Bamboo Volume Weightless Mousse for volume then Alterna Bamboo Style Boho Waves for texture while the hair was wet. Then she blow dryed the hair using large sections of hair and added Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Working Hairspray. Finally, the hair was curled with a large curling iron so the curls flowed away from the face. The curls are random throughout the hair, in keeping with the undone look. The curls were combed through with a wide tooth short comb to maintain the volume and wave.
Dashing Diva created the nude nail look using brand new nail appliqués that they are launching this fall. Fashion Week was the sneak preview for these easy stick on nail colors. I was amazed at how easy they seem to apply. Can’t wait to try them.
