City Pulse

What’s old is new, and seeing what’s new never gets old – especially when it’s an innovative experience that could only come from the mind of Macy’s bar III. Launched in 2011 as part of the company’s Impulse department, bar III supplies shoppers with men’s and women’s fashion collections that showcase trend-right, easy-to-style separates. The exclusive, contemporary label ranges from pixie dresses, flirty skirts, high-waist shorts and motorcycle jackets for the gals, to sportswear and suits for the fellas. Initially a fashion line focusing on the essentials, bar III has now successfully expanded into a lifestyle brand that includes accessories and textiles with a dedicated following – a following that’s straight to their flea market tent tour this weekend.

Traveling to several top vintage-style bazaars in cities across the nation, including NYC, Chicago, LA, and Denver, bar III will install a custom black and white tent providing potential shoppers with RTW, Men’s, Jewelry, and Home products from its latest summer collection. The goods will be offered in sizes that run the gamut, so all shoppers of every height and width will be able try on. Then model staffers will use iPads to ring up final sales directly from, which will include free shipping. Buyers who spend $100 or more will receive a limited-edition designer bar lll x fleabags tote.

Of course for any roadside style show to rock, it needs a hostess who can conquer the catwalk with knockout knowledge that proves she’s the go-to girl. So bar III has brought in the big guns with LA fashion maven Aimee Song of Song of Style. She’ll be trekking with the brand and serving as the official bar lll at the flea ambassador, hosting fans and helping them find their ideal bar III items. Aimee will also be supporting social media efforts by activating a digital challenge called #raisethebar, urging shoppers to “raise the bar” on their individual style by adding bar III flea market finds to the rest of their apparel.

So if fashion is your passion, raise the bar and get ready to rule your own runway in fab flea-market style. This excursion of chic will be in NYC at Hester Street Fair on Saturday June 9 (10AM-6PM) and Green Flea (Columbus Avenue between W. 76th and W. 77th Streets) on Sunday 10 (10AM-5:30PM).
