They say a warm smile is the universal language of kindness, but when Ted Gibson and DEX New York makeup artists are present, a beautiful image is the only language.
On Thursday, April 23, Operation Smile – a worldwide children’s medical charity whose network of global volunteers are dedicated to helping improve the health and lives of children and young adults – and motivated teens from across Manhattan came together to host the 2009 JR Smile Event at the Capitale.
Backstage, hairstylist Ted Gibson and John Henry of DEX New York ensured every model was camera ready with top of the line products. Models were beautified with light reflective pink lip shades (Park Avenue Princess and Amsterdam), navy mascara and shimmering tones. All while male models flaunted natural tinted moisturizers.
“We are going for a natural look,” said Henry. “So we’re using our mineral line that’s filled with color and vibrance. Healthiness is true professionalism.”
Ted Gibson, opted for understated sexiness as he used tame it shine lotion to tame flyaways and prevent moisture loss. Volume was also commonplace as he used back combing techniques and gel and mouse at the ends of hair strands.
Once glammed up, the models were all set to flaunt designs from Marc Jacobs, Vera Wang, Carmen Marc Valvo, and Diane Von Furstenburg – pieces donated from designers and models.
